Last week I took my introverted soul – you know the one who gets really nervous about having to go to an event by herself, and see other humans in real life to Danielle LaPorte’s Choose to Shine event.
As always I was reminded that in person connection is always, always worth it! Because sometimes we forget, sometimes we get nervous and scared but truly there is magic there. That’s why I am so passionate about in person events, based in Melb? Check out my upcoming Manifest My Desires workshop.
Now I loved this night as a chance to catch up with friends, fellow coaches and light workers in this world. Danielle spoke about the best self help being self compassion and that really struck a cord with me. Today I am sharing what my 3 main takeaways I took from the event were.
I have spoken about completing a 4 day mediation intensive training a bit here and there, but today I really want to dive deeper into this because it has been such a beautiful incredible experience and I want to share this.
I first penned this post just after completing my meditation course and now am coming back to this 2 months prior (almost to the day) and have been meditating daily for 20 minutes or 40 minutes each day! Crazy for me to even fathom, now I am not saying this will be for your, but by sharing my experience I hope to help you with your own meditation practice if that looks even more hardcore than mine, or by simply taken a few mindful breaths before you get out of bed.
Almost one month ago I hosted a sacred in person event for women who wanted to learn to trust in themselves more than their fear. This night was focused on sacred connection, soul-filled clarity and heart-centred action.
I want to share with you about my own creative experience of bringing this into the world and provide you with all my insight and learnings too.
First things first, let me just say this, it was hard. So super, really hard. Both professionally and due to tragic personal reasons in the lead up to this event. There were a number of times I thought I could have or should have cancelled it. I didn’t have the amount of guests at the workshop as I had originally hoped for, and I really had to work at reframing this lack thinking to one of gratitude. I had to get over myself and love and enjoy the workshop – which I so did. So let’s dive in …
Have you ever been in the situation where you are working towards a big goal, and have lots on your plate? You might even think that you are too busy to take care of yourself.
So your self-care starts to drop, because that voice in your head says “you don’t have time to do yoga today” and so you listen to it. You skip yoga, end up messing and fluffing around for a couple of hours, feeling guilty that you didn’t go to yoga, feel guilty that you have SO much work to do and you haven’t touched anything.
Finally in a couple of hours you are stressed because you didn’t relax with yoga, stressed because you didn’t get all the work you wanted to done and feeling pretty yuk. In today’s post I am going to be sharing with you how you can work on getting unbusy, how keeping your self-care is imperative.
Last Saturday I was working my day job and I told my boss that I have major #joblove. Why? Because I had a turmeric latter bought for me as a treat, and was gifted an incredible new jacket we just got in. This is on top of the already incredible perks I get with complimentary yoga and pilates classes.
Yesterday my day was made even more incredible by being gifted a brand new pair of running shoes as once again an incredible gift to say ‘thank you’ for all my work recently.
The funny thing is that this job didn’t just fall into my lap, it’s a job that a lot of people look to as their dream job, but I was able to make it mine.
